In Robert Rodriguez’s follow up to his 2010 film ‘Machete’, actor Carlos Estevez has been cast as the U.S. President in ‘Machete Kills.’
Who is Carlos Estevez? Most people would probably recognize him by his stage name, Charlie Sheen.
While the reasons aren’t immediately known for the actor’s name change in ‘Machete Kills’, it does mark the first time that Sheen plans to use his birth name in credits for a film.
Set for a September 13 2013 release, ‘Machete Kills’ stars Danny Trejo reprising his role from the original film as a former Mexican Federale now being recruited by the U.S. Government to stop a maniacal arms dealer bent on creating global mayhem by sending WMD’s into space.
Not to be outdone in the “eccentric casting department” by buddy Quentin Tarantino, Rodriguez’s eclectic roster for ‘Machete Kills’ includes: Antonio Banderas, Cuba Gooding Jr, Mel Gibson, Sofia Vergara, and Lady Gaga in the sequel. Cast members Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez from the original ‘Machete’ will reprise their roles.
‘Machete’ was originally a mock trailer created for the 2007 film ‘Grindhouse’ which was co-directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino.
