In theaters Friday, July 12 are Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ and the Adam Sandler comedy ‘Grown Ups 2.’
‘Pacific Rim’ is rated at 72% Fresh by Rotten Tomatoes, which arrives at their scores based on a large panel of reviewers.
‘Pacific Rim’ is a “Kaiju” film from celebrated fantasy and genre film director Guillermo del Toro. His previous films include ‘Pan’s Labyrinth,’ ‘Hellboy,’ and ‘Mimic.’ For a detailed filmography on del Toro click here to view our Flixnerd profile on him.
If you love broad comedy, ‘Grown Ups 2’ is also in theaters July 12. The sequel reunites stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, and David Spade.
While ‘Grown Ups 2’ certainly won’t reveal any of life’s hidden truths to audiences, it might make you laugh. I have to admit that the bits with Shaquille O’Neal in the trailer got a smile or two from me.
‘Fruitvale Station’ is one of the years most well-reviewed independent features. Playing in limited release, the film stars Michael B. Jordan as a young man whose has an epiphany that prompts him to positively change his life.
‘Fruitvale Station’ is one of the few releases in 2013 with some “Oscar Buzz” surrounding it. Octavia Spencer is already heating up in some film circles as a nominee for supporting actor for her role as ‘Wanda.’
So, Flixnerds, get out of the heat this weekend and go to the movies.
